Luckily, for most of the birthday freebies, all you have to do is sign up to the brand’s newsletters or mailing lists, sometimes download their app, and you can expect free birthday stuff to land in your inbox.

There are a whole range of restaurants and cafes that will offer you free birthday stuff — we’re talking discounted food, free cake and sometimes maybe the occasional free meal!

1. Krispy Kreme — free birthday doughnut
If you download the Krispy Kreme Rewards app and sign up for the loyalty scheme (or you can sign up via their website) you’ll get a voucher to redeem for a free doughnut in-store during your birthday month. Plus, you’ll also get a free doughnut when you sign up for the first time, so it’s a win-win situation.

2. Greggs — free sweet treat
All you need to do to get Greggs birthday freebies is to download the Greggs app and register for the Greggs Rewards loyalty scheme. On your birthday you’ll get a voucher to show in-store for one free sweet treat such as a doughnut or cake and your voucher will be valid for your whole birthday month.

3. Lidl — free cookie
Who doesn’t love the Lidl bakery? If you sign up to the Lidl Plus app you can get a free cookie from the Lidl bakery on your birthday with no minimum spend. Your voucher will be on the app and you’ll have 7 days from your birthday to redeem it.
4. Barburrito — free birthday burrito
On the hunt for a free birthday meal? Sign up for the loyalty card scheme “La Familia” by picking up a card in-store and register it at least four days before your birthday to claim your free burrito as a sweet birthday gift.
5. Brewers Fayre — free main meal
Pick up a loyalty card in-store and register it with the Brewers Fayre bonus club to get one free meal for your birthday. You have to buy one other main meal from the menu, but you’ll get one totally for free too!
6. Las Iguanas — free meal
Sign up to the newsletter and you’ll receive a voucher for a free meal a week before your birthday.

Sign up to the Frankie & Benny’s Rewards scheme and you’ll be sent a voucher 10 days before your birthday.
8. Muffin Break — free muffin
Pick up a rewards card in-store and register it online and you’ll be able to claim a free muffin of your choice on your birthday.
9. Costa — free cake
Sign up for the Costa Club and enter your date of birth while signing up. You’ll receive an electronic voucher on your birthday which is valid for 7 days to receive a free cake of your choice.

10. Hotel Chocolat — £5 off when you spend over £5
Sign up for a Hotel Chocolat VIP card and activate it online. Your birthday freebie will be emailed to you two weeks before your birthday and is valid for up to 30 days after.
11. Zizzi — free birthday meal
Sign up to the Zizzi newsletter and you’ll get a free birthday meal with the purchase of one other main meal. You’ll be emailed your voucher two weeks before your birthday.
12. Tortilla — free birthday burrito
All you have to do is join the Tortilla Club and you’ll be emailed a voucher on your birthday for a free burrito.
13. Pizza Express — free dessert or pizza
Sign up for the Pizza Express Club and you’ll qualify for your birthday freebie. Depending on the level of your Pizza Express Club account, you’ll get either a free dessert, pizza, or bottle of bubbles.
Bronze members will get a free dessert, Silver members can get a free pizza and Gold members can choose a bottle of Prosecco or wine or a Classic or Romana pizza. Decent!

If you sign up to Gail’s app and add your date of birthday, you’ll be entitled to free birthday stuff. 33. Bill’s — bottle of prosecco birthday freebie
Sign up to Bill’s newsletter for a free bottle of prosecco on your birthday. You have to dine in though to claim it – only applicable with a main meal.
You have to sign up four weeks before your birthday and you’ll be emailed a unique voucher to show in the restaurant on the day.
